The course will focus on experimental and theoretical concepts in state preparation and parameter estimation for macroscopic optomechanical systems. Key ideas will be introduced through weekly journal readings, and their applications to mg-scale optomechanical systems will be discussed.

Target group: PhD students specialised in macroscopic quantum optomechanics

Prerequisites: Fundamental optomechanics and quantum optics

Evaluation: Active participation and discussion

Teaching format: The course will be structured as an interactive study reading: Onur and Marta will be teaching the course in the sense that they will suggest articles and relevant materials. In turn each student will read and present one or more papers and in every session there is going to be an open discussion aimed at understanding the concepts and the open quesitons
