This course will be an introduction to modern techniques in analytic number theory, with a focus on multiplicative number theory. Possible topics include: sieve theory; topics in the distribution of prime numbers; the Riemann zeta function and its behavior in the critical strip; estimates of multiplicative functions and exponential sums in short intervals.
