Effective, timely communication can help to establish and/or maintain healthy, constructive relationships with your supervisor, peers and collaborators, and it can ensure you stay motivated and content in your work. Applying a knowledge of different communication skills and styles can therefore be crucial for the progress of your research. In this workshop, you will learn and practice communication models aimed at establishing and maintaining healthy, productive professional relationships and collaborations in an international research environment.

At the end of the workshop, you will:
- Understand the fundamental aspects of constructive communication
- Know how to listen in order to understand others
- Be aware of how to make yourself be heard and understood

Target group: ISTA PhD students and Postdocs. [This course counts towards the Essential Skills Requirement for PhD Students—2022 cohort and onwards].

Evaluation: Requirement for passing: participating in the entire workshop.

Teaching format: The format of the workshop is highly interactive and practical, involving time for small group work, role-play and discussion sessions.
