This course will cover fundamentals of protein biochemistry, including but not limited to
- Principles of protein structure (covalent and non-covalent interactions, structural elements and motifs)
- Protein stability, folding, degradation and dynamics
- Structure/function relationships in proteins
- Protein-nucleic acid interactions, Protein-ligand interactions
- Protein evolution
- Protein engineering and directed evolution
Target group: All students wishing to expand their knowledge on the fundamental principles underlying the function, structure and dynamics of molecular complexes. This includes all scientists aiming to interpret their findings taking the molecular (protein/residue-level) view into account.
