Description:
This seminar consists of a series of talks, given by mainly international guests. These seminar talks are usually on Tuesdays at 11 am in the LBW Heinzel Seminar room. The list of talks is published at https://physicsandbeyond.ista.ac.at/?page_id=488&mcat=5
Goals:
- Introduction to state-of-the-art experiments and theoretical approaches in modern quantum science, quantum optics and solid state physics, including quantum foundations, quantum devices, quantum technologies and quantum information processing.
- Promoting an active participation in Institute Seminars.
Target group: All ISTA PhD students working in the fields of quantum and solid state physics.
Prerequisites: This course can only be taken once (one full semseter).
Evaluation: Assessment:
- In-time registration.
- Signed attendance of at least 7 out of ~ 9 talks/lectures per full semester.
- Prepare for the seminar based on the available abstract and literature.
- Ask at least one question after each attended talk.
- Provide a scientific summary about at least one talk chosen by the student before the end of the semester. This statement should clarify the main achievements presented and should put them in context, i.e. clarify how the work goes (or does not go) beyond the state of the art in that specific subfield (2 pages max).
