The primary aim of the Core Project is interdisciplinary communication: students from widely different fields should be able to communicate with each other, and understand what is important, difficult, and interesting about each other’s respective areas of study.
The secondary aim of the Core Project is to create a sense of belonging and we want to connect students with each other. Therefore, the instructors and teaching assistance will put an emphasis on creating an environment where everyone feel welcomed and comfortable in expressing their thoughts.

Target group: All 1st year PhD students

Prerequisites: none

Evaluation: 1. Writing piece: students are expected to produce a pieces of writing over the course of the semester. These should be completed in a timely manner and follow the guidelines laid out in the syllabus.
2. Active attendance: students are expected to actively engage with each other in the discussion sessions to both enhance the collective understanding as well as develop the communication dynamic within the group.
3. Constructive feedback: as a component of the course, students are expected to give feedback to their classmates. This feedback should be constructive and helpful, and ideally consist of specific improvements.
