Why do we expect a particular type of climate given a specific location at a given time of the year? The answer lies in the general circulation of our atmosphere. We shall start from the Sun-Earth geometry and gradually add complexities to understand the general circulation of our atmosphere and finally finish by discussing some of the current research questions in this field. We shall also discuss a few dominant modes of variabilities of our climate.
