Welcome to the Introductory Course for Scientific Computing at ISTA

This course is designed to give you a gentle introduction to the services and resources provided by the Scientific Computing Unit. No prior knowledge or experience is required — we will guide you step by step.

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Get to know the Scientific Computing Unit and what we offer.

  • Introduction to Supercomputing and Environments. 

  • Learn the basics of Linux and essential command-line skills.

  • Take your first steps on the ISTA cluster:

    • Connecting to the cluster

    • Working with the module system

    • Using graphical interfaces (RDP / X2GO)

  • Learn how to run your own experiment on the cluster.

  • Understand the different storage solutions at SciComp and when to use each.
